I haven’t gotten to the leaks just yet, planning the attack out since it will be fairly involved. Also, I’ve put about 50 miles on the Jeep since replacing the O2 sensor and the Check Engine Light has not come back on. I’m feeling pretty good about it.
It’s started to warm up where I live and the top has come off. A prior owner equipped the Jeep with a bikini top and a mesh cover for the back.

Installed the O2 sensor and that has cleared up the check engine light. After reading up on the task online, I figured I was in for a fight, but the whole thing didn’t take long at all. I bought the Bosch replacement unit, I’ve had good luck with Bosch kit in the past. It even came with anti-seize already on the threads.
Next up is the leak from the transmission/transfer-case area.

The back seat has been installed. Corrected the tail light lenses, one was on upside down. I think I’ll go ahead and plan on replacing all the bulbs with LEDs. I like the look of the stock lenses, but I prefer the safety added by the brightness of the LEDs. Glued the glove box door back to the hinge plate with epoxy. So far that’s holding up, but I don’t see that being a high abuse item.

Been investigating why the engine runs so rich, it’s been an interesting journey. Just to give you an idea of how rich it’s been running, since I bought the Jeep, I’ve put about 50 miles on it. Over that distance I’ve burned half a tank of gas, that’s 10 gallons. Time to fix that.
To start out, all the advice on Jeep forums was saying to check the engine codes. One does this by turning the key On-Off-On-Off-On and that’s the code for the computer to flash out the existing codes via the Check Engine Light (CEL).

Was able to get under the jeep today and open up the rear diff. Everything actually looked really good. Sealed it all back up with RTV and bought a new fill plug. Only odd thing was, it didn’t take as much gear oil as anticipated. There are shims on the rear axle to angle the pinion up towards frame, which I’m guessing moves the fill hole down and effectively lowers capacity on the diff.

I bought a Jeep It is a 94 YJ Wrangler, with a 4.0 inline 6 and a manual transmission. I’m super psyched. My wife and I have wanted a Jeep for a while, but held off for other reasons. However, a posting on Craigslist showed up that was too good to pass up. Especially since the person selling it was more than willing to come down on an already reasonable price.
